KoruWorks' Tyler Clayton's latest S-chassis build is an S14-powered Silvia Q's that doesn't skimp on the creature comforts.
, Clayton, who's only modified car knowledge at the time was based around audio and the wild mini trucks that he'd seen with dancing beds of that era, was formally introduced to a whole new world thanks to his friend Andy Sapp. The year was 2000 and Clayton tagged along to the automotive extravaganza known as NOPI Nationals, where the experience changed him forever."Until then, I had no idea people could build race cars out of basic vehicles," he says.
Behind the wheel of his last gutted and caged 240sx, Clayton started missing creature comforts that bystanders take for granted, those that are usually yanked first when things get serious, like passenger seats, a working A/C, and carpet. Rather than working backward, he decided to find a whole new chassis to start over with."I searched for a while before coming across this car," he recalls.
The days of scurrying down the expressway with the deafening drone of a stripped interior are behind him at this point, and Clayton's S13 maintains its factory rear seats, plastics, door cards, and carpet. The front seats, however, were replaced with a Bride Stradia pilot's bucket while a Recaro Trial was reserved for those riding shotgun. A modern Haltech CAN gauge is wired in, and so is a classic Blitz turbo timer—something you probably haven't seen used in years.
