An 18-year-old driver was hospitalized Monday evening with life-threatening injuries after he crashed into a telephone pole in Plainfield, investigators said. The driver, identified only as a male Plainfield resident, was traveling west on Watchung Avenue toward Seventh Street around 6:15 p.m. when he hit the pole, according to a statement from the Plainfield Police Department.
Police said speed may have been a factor in the crash which involved no other vehicles, police said. There no other people in the Toyota Camry the man was driving.
