An 18-year-old is charged with murder for a crash that killed his 16-year-old passenger. Garland police said they were trying to flee officers when it happened.

Garland police said the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday after officers tried to pull over a car for a traffic violation.

The driver of the car didn’t stop and instead drove across a DART train track on Garland Avenue while the red lights were flashing, and the crossing arms were down.The Garland Police Department said Adrian Castillo had a bond forfeiture warrant for Indecency with a Child.A few minutes later, the officers caught up to the suspect’s car, which had crashed near the intersection of Garland Avenue and Avenue B.
