James Campbell, 13, is being charged as an adult with criminal homicide and first-degree murder.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning at Campbell’s residence, loctated along the 400 block of Donegal Lake Road in Donegal Township.
Police said they came to the home at about 6 a.m. and discovered Hunter Meyers, 10, dead in an upstairs bedroom. He had multiple stab wounds to his head and a knife was lying next to him. Campbell told state police he stabbed Myers, court documents said. He had blood on his pants and feet and several lacerations on his right hand.“It’s very difficult to investigate any loss of life, and our sympathies and our deepest regards go out to the family of the young boy that was killed,” state trooper Steve Limani said to TribLive. “It’s a tragedy.”
Campbell was arraigned at the Westmoreland County courthouse on Thursday. Bond was denied.
