The 12-year old girl police believe started a massive fire at the former mushroom farm in Lacey will stay in juvenile detention for arson, assault, and unlawful imprisonment of another minor.

According to court documents, police showed the Snapchat photos to the building owner who confirmed they were taken in an office inside the building.

The 12-year old was also arrested for assaulting another minor who she accused of stealing her phone, which the victim denied doing. Court document state the suspect’s sister also took part in the assault, which was captured on video. Police say both are seen hitting the victim repeatedly and dragging her upstairs by her hair, and the victim sustained a fractured nose, concussion and an ankle injury.

A victim advocate told the court the victim’s family fears for her safety and mental health if the suspect were to be released, given things that have been posted online since this happened. In court Friday, a judge set bail at $25,000 and ordered the 12-year-old girl to have no contact with the victim. The judge also ruled the girl will stay in detention instead of electronic home monitoring, citing concerns for community safety.A judge denied KOMO’s request to record the court proceedings due in part to the suspect’s age and lack of any prior criminal history, but the suspect’s mother stated in court she is at her wit’s end and her daughter often doesn’t come home.
