Powell Street Festival
The thunderous beat of Taiko drums will echo across the Downtown Eastside this weekend when the 46th annual Powell Street Festival gets underway. The festival celebrates Japanese-Canadian culture in historic Paueru Gai, or the old Japantown around Powell Street. There will be Japanese art and cultural display, festival food, martial art demonstrations, Taiko drumming and other live music performances.Crowds gather to watch a martial arts performance at the 2017 Powell Street Festival.
