“The days are long and we can get outside — if only to the backyard,” says Eyal Lichtmann, CEO of the Regional Animal Protection Society. “But the heat is dangerous for people and animals. We’ve got a few easy steps to keep four-legged family happy and healthy.”
3. Avoid the pavement: Asphalt and pavement can become extremely hot and burn your pet's paws. Walk your pets during cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening, and stick to grassy areas when possible. 6. Limit exercise: Reduce the intensity and duration of exercise during hot weather. Opt for shorter walks and avoid strenuous activities. Pay attention to your pet’s behaviour and watch for signs of overheating.
