The Star Trek franchise is consistently referenced throughout pop culture. Here are the top 10 Star Trek references in other live-action shows.
Since its premiere in 1966, Star Trek has been a pop culture phenomenon that now spans many television shows and movies, and it has been referenced in numerous other TV shows as well. Star Trek has become so ingrained in American popular culture for so long that many movies, books, and television shows call back to it. There are far too many Trek references across all of pop culture to list them all, but some of the best ones are found in the world of television.
11 Lost For a show that didn't exactly feature any aliens, Lost makes more references to Star Trek than one would expect. Early on in the show, a couple of the characters discuss the idea of redshirts in Star Trek: The Original Series, and throughout the show, several characters are wearing red shirts when they die. There are several other, smaller references sprinkled throughout Lost.
7 DC's Legends of Tomorrow A DC superhero show following several characters first introduced in Arrow and The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow is a fun time-traveling romp. In the season 5 episode, "The One Where We're Trapped in TV," the characters find themselves stuck in various television shows, one of which is called Star Trip, a spoof on Star Trek: The Original Series.
4 The X-Files Another staple sci-fi show, The X-Files followed FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully as they investigated unexplainable phenomena. Aliens were a major part of the show's mythology, so it's only logical that characters would occasionally make reference to Star Trek. In one flashback scene, a young Mulder is seen dressed in a Spock costume, complete with pointed Vulcan ears.
