A Rebels villain breaks Lucas' rule.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT One of Star Wars Rebels' early villains broke a classic George Lucas rule in a brilliant way. For the first two seasons of Rebels, ISB Agent Kallus was one of the primary antagonists, frequently involved in the pursuit of the Ghost crew and Phoenix Squadron.

The ISB agent joined a collection of Star Wars villains with on-the-nose names. Lucas didn't shy away from doing cheesy things in Star Wars, like removing the "in" and naming his two main villains Darth Vader and Darth Sidious. Perhaps the most egregious example is General Grievous, whose name isn't altered in any way and perfectly reflects the behavior of the character. Such is the case with many Star Wars villains, who represent traits and ideologies backed up by their names.

At First Agent Kallus Lived Up To His Name When Agent Kallus was introduced in Rebels, he fit the bill of a callous individual. In the series pilot "Spark of Rebellion," Kallus was heartless, using the young Ezra Bridger as bait to lure the Ghost crew into a trap. He would later kick a stormtrooper to his doom on Kessel out of frustration, demonstrating his lack of regard for his underlings.

The Ghost crew proved elusive, dodging every obstacle Kallus threw in their way. Darth Vader was eventually called in to deal with the Phoenix fleet and their Jedi, employing a ruthless trap. Kallus willingly participated in the plan, setting up the defecting Minister Tua to run to her death on a shuttle rigged with explosives. The moment was caught on video and used as propaganda against the rebels on Lothal, seemingly pushing Kallus past the point of no return.

Star Wars Rebels Redeemed Agent Kallus, Breaking Lucas' Tradition After reaching mutual understanding and respect while stranded on Geonosis' ice moon, Kallus recognized the emptiness he felt as an Imperial in comparison to Zeb's compassionate family. Over the next year, Kallus secretly operated as a rebel informant under the designation "Fulcrum," providing the Phoenix cell with intel about Thrawn's plans.
