Authorities are responding after a parking garage collapse in New York City's Financial District on Tuesday afternoon left one person dead and multiple people injured.

One worker was trapped on the upper floors of the building and called for help, Esposito said. Firefighters assisted him across the roof to another building to safety. Adams told reporters that the building did not appear to have any open violations with the city's department of buildings. Records show the building had a 2003 violation for a crack in the first floor ceiling slab.
