A man was injured early Thursday when someone shot into the abandoned trailer he was sleeping in near Third Ward, police said.
Officers around 1:35 a.m. responded to a report of a shooting in the 3300 block of Elgin Street and discovered a man with a gunshot wound to the head, Lt. Ignacio Izaguirre, of the Houston Police Department, told On Scene reporters.The man was sleeping in the RV when someone shot into it and struck him, Izaguirre said. Investigators weren’t sure if the man was the intended target, whether someone else was or why someone fired into the trailer.
After he was shot, the man walked to the 3300 block of Reeves Street where someone helped him call police, Izaguirre said. Emergency responders transported the man to the hospital, where he was expected to survive.
