The shooting was Essex County's second slaying within two days, authorities said.
The shooting occurred in the 400 block of Springdale Avenue, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly, of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide and Major Crimes Units.
No other information was immediately released. East Orange city officials referred questions to the prosecutor’s office, which was leading the investigation.in a shooting in neighboring Bloomfield, authorities said. There were no immediate arrests in that slaying.
